The Hyrule Castle Town Ruins are a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Hyrule Castle Town Ruins are located in Hyrule Field at the southern base of Hyrule Castle. They are the ruins of Hyrule Castle Town, Hyrule Kingdom's largest city before the second Great Calamity. As it had the highest concentration of Hylians and was built in Central Hyrule, it was both a shopping hub and travel destination for the people of Hyrule.[2] At their center is the Central Square, a former thoroughfare with a large fountain. The Hyrule Castle Town Ruins are filled with Ruined Houses and desolate terrain that is covered in Malice. There is little vegetation to be found except for Grass. A Cooking Pot can be found in one of the Ruined Houses to the northwest.

A stone Treasure Chest containing a Luminous Stone rests in the Ruined House to the south. Another stone Treasure Chest containing a Purple Rupee can be found in the Ruined House to the southeast. A third stone Treasure Chest containing a Purple Rupee can be found inside the tower that is surrounded by Pools of Malice in the road in the southwest. A fourth stone Chest containing a Sapphire can be found in a Ruined House in the west. A fifth stone Treasure Chest containing a Purple Rupee can be found in a Ruined House north of the previous Chest.

By the time Link first arrives at the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins, a group of Tents have been set up in the Central Square. These Tents belong to the Monster-Control Crew, who are searching for Zelda after her disappearance during the Upheaval. After Link speaks to Hoz at Hyrule Castle and reports their findings to Purah at Lookout Landing, the Monster-Control Crew leaves the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins, taking their camp equipment with them.
