Amiibo (Rune)

Template:Item amiibo is a Rune ability in Breath of the Wild. The Rune enables compatible amiibo figures to be scanned into the game.

Location and Uses

The amiibo Rune becomes available to Link once having enabled amiibo support in the Options menu. The support can also be disabled at any time.

When activated, the amiibo Rune allows compatible amiibo figures to be scanned into the game. Doing so will generate certain results depending on the amiibo scanned; scanning the Super Smash Bros.-related Zelda, 30th Anniversary, and Breath of the Wild lines of amiibo will generate a Treasure Chest containing a random item and several possible Materials of a certain group dependent on the amiibo. Scanning the Super Smash Bros. Link amiibo will summon Epona on the first scan, followed by a Treasure Chest and Materials for every subsequent scan. Scanning the Wolf Link amiibo will summon Wolf Link into the game. Other non-Zelda amiibo can also be scanned which will generate random items. A specific amiibo figure can only be scanned once per real-time day.

While using the Rune, a cursor appears in front of Link which can be moved to aim where the amiibo's effects will generate.
