Rusted Prison
If the sturdy iron bars are any indication, those who are brought to the lockup must've committed weighty crimes. I don't believe it's been in use for a very long time, so the guards who would normally stand post here have instead been sent to watch over the castle.

The Lockup is a series of dungeon cells found under the northeastern side of the Hyrule Castle Underground. The Lockup Back Room is located at its far end. The Lockup's entrance is guarded by a Decayed Guardian and marked Luminous Stone Deposits. The portcullis is placed over a small pool of Water, allowing Link to lift it with Cryonis to gain entry into the Lockup. It is also possible for Link to enter from the side of the cliff bearing the Lockup, placing him inside a cell opposite a Glowing Eyeball. If defeated, the Glowing Eyeball will release its control on a wooden Lever Switch placed between the two cells, consequently opening the parallel cells.

As the Lever Switch is broken, the third cell on the left-hand side can only be accessed through a cracked tile wall between the second and third cells. A second Glowing Eyeball connected to a mass of Malice occupies the switch between the fourth row of cells. The left-hand side hosts a cracked tile wall that connects to the Water Pump Room and the West Passage.

Inside the Lockup, Link can find a Wooden Box, which can be broken open for supplies.

Tears of the Kingdom

As in Breath of the Wild, the Lockup composes part of the Hyrule Castle Underground in Hyrule Field. It remained largely intact during the Upheaval, though it is now more difficult to navigate with several broken portcullises that obstruct its pathways. The Lever Switches inside the Lockup are broken and can only be activated by merging them with an Item or Object and then moving them with Ultrahand. The northern Lever Switch controls the northernmost pair of cell doors. The middle Lever Switch is completely broken and cannot be used to open the four central cell doors. However, two of the cells are already open and the remaining closed cells can be entered from their adjacent cells instead. The southern Lever Switch controls the two southermost cell doors can can be activated in the aforementioned way. The southeasternmost cell leads to the West Passage and a break in Hyrule Castle Corridors that once connected it to the Water Pump Room. It now instead leads into the Hyrule Castle Chasm. The Lockup Back Room is no longer accessible from here, and must instead be entered by breaking through the Hard Sediment on its roof.
