Flame Fountains are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.(LA)[1][name references needed] Flame Fountains go unnamed in Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch, Ocarina of Time, Spirit Tracks, and Tears of the Kingdom.

Characteristics

Link's Awakening

The Flame Fountain is found only in one Cave in the Western Tal Tal Mountains. This Cave leads to Turtle Rock and first needs to be blown open with Bombs. After Link enters the Cave, he encounters the Flame Fountain at the end of a narrow corridor, spewing a constant stream of Fire into the passageway. Link cannot get past the flames at all: they not only cause a huge amount of damage (two and a half hearts worth), but the strength of them forces him back. The Fountain cannot be destroyed. Link can only bypass the Flame Fountain with the Mirror Shield from the Eagle's Tower in the Eastern Tal Tal Mountains. Using the Shield, he can force the flames back and pass the Fountain unharmed.

It is possible to bypass the Flame Fountain (and thus skip the Mirror Shield) by taking enough damage from the flames while being in possession of Tracy's Secret Medicine. Once the Medicine kicks in and starts restoring Link's Hearts, he can run through the flames unharmed for a brief period of time.

Ocarina of Time

Flame Fountains appear inside the Fire Temple, releasing bursts of Fire if Link approaches. Flame Fountains cannot be destroyed.

Spirit Tracks

Flame Fountains appear in the Tower of Spirits, Fire Temple, and the Lost at Sea Temple. They periodically spew Fire.
