Weapon Traits are a mechanic in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

Weapon Traits are special passive abilities that certain Weapons in a series have. In addition to being highlighted in the Weapon's description, they can also be seen under the icon when switching in the quick menu. Weapon Traits only appear on melee weapons, not Shields or Bows. Weapon Traits are only applied to base weapons, and not any attached to the end of another with Fuse.

Weapon Trait
Desperate Strength
Description

It can yield powerful attacks when you're down to your last heart.

Corresponding Weapons
Properties

Weapon Trait
Water Warrior
Description

It yields a high attack power when it gets wet.

Corresponding Weapons
Lua error in Module:File at line 33: attempt to index a nil value.
Properties

The weapon, including fused attachments, deals double damage when Link is wet. This stacks with other damage multipliers and/or Attack Up effects.
The length Link is considered "wet" depends on the source of water and the surrounding environment, but it can be achieved by being in Rain or a wet Cave, emerging from swimming or a waterfall, splashing himself with a "wet" item (Chuchu Jelly, Splash Fruit, an Opal or a King's Scale), or using a Hydrant or Sidon's Power of Water. The Froggy Set also has "moisturizing" effect that lengthens the time Link is wet when worn.

Weapon Trait
Demolisher
Description

It is great for breaking rocks.

Corresponding Weapons
Properties

The weapon does 1.5x damage to rock enemies and obstacles (e.g. Stone Talus and Frox weak points, Stone Pebblits, Ore Deposits and Cracked Walls. While the Gloom Club has this trait, only its Gloom Toll trait is shown in-game.

Weapon Trait
Strong Fusion
Description

Attaching a material greatly enhances the material's power but doesn't add as much durability.

Corresponding Weapons
Properties

The Fuse Attack Power of items attached with Fuse is doubled (e.g. fusing a Silver Lynel Saber Horn with 55 attack power instead adds 110 on top of the base damage). However, the weapon only receives 5 additional Durability from fusions instead of most weapons' 25, with the exception of the Scimitar of the Seven.

Weapon Trait

Bursting materials attached to the spearhead can be reused again and again.

Weapon Trait
Gloom Toll
Description

Its gloom will gradually wear down the body of its wielder.

Corresponding Weapons

Improved Sneakstrike
Description

It can yield more powerful sneakstrikes.

Corresponding Weapons
Properties

Damage during a Sneakstrike is doubled compounding with the inherent 8x multiplier.

Weapon Trait

Weapon Trait
Revitalized Sword of Legend
Description

The blade gleams with a sacred luster that can oppose the Demon King.

Corresponding Weapons
Properties

The effect of this trait is the Master Sword's powering up near Gloom. While it normally does 30 base damage, it will glow and deal 45 in the presence of Gloom or Gloom-infused enemies, and 60 against Phantom Ganon or Demon King Ganondorf. If in the second condition, it will also not consume Durability. The version of the Master Sword in the opening also technically has this trait.
