The Forgotten Temple is a location in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Features and Overview

The Forgotten Temple is an Ancient Hylian Ruin located at the northeastern end of the Tanagar Canyon on the Tabantha Frontier.[2] Several Updrafts can be found along the Temple's grounds, allowing Link to Paraglide above the chamber walls inside. It was originally constructed to remember the heroes who have faced Ganon over the ages, and as a result, Guardians were placed inside to ensure its safety.[3] However, the Temple has been abandoned for so long that many do not recall its original purpose.[3] The interior of the Forgotten Temple is now filled with Decayed Guardians, who will shoot Link on sight. The Rona Kachta Shrine sits at the end of the Forgotten Temple. Behind it is a Goddess Statue, which is not only the tallest in Hyrule, but the oldest as well.[4]

At 3:00 AM, Dinraal will descend towards the Tanagar Canyon, causing Winds and Updrafts to appear around the Forgotten Temple.

As part of the "A Gift from the Monks" Side Quest, the Monks will direct Link to the Forgotten Temple, where he will receive a prize for conquering all 120 Ancient Shrines.[5] In front of the Temple's Goddess Statue, Link can find three Treasure Chests containing the Hero of the Wild Set.[6] After obtaining all three pieces of Armor, the Side Quest will be completed.

Several other Treasure Chests can be found within the Forgotten Temple and on its roof. In all, these Chests contain one Feathered Spear, five Fire Arrows, one Giant Ancient Core, one Silver Rupee, and one Gold Rupee.

A total of six Korok Seed Puzzles are hidden within and around the Forgotten Temple. When these Puzzle are solved, a Korok will appear before Link. It then proceeds to give him a Korok Seed as a reward for finding it.[7] Their locations are as follows:

  • A Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock on the westernmost entrance pillar.
  • A Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock, which is hidden under a metal door by the Temple's entrance.
  • A Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock, hidden behind a pile of destructible rocks on the southwestern side of Temple's roof.
  • A Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock, hidden behind a pile of destructible rocks on the southeastern side of Temple's roof.
  • A Cube Pattern on the northeastern side of the Temple's roof.
  • A Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock, located behind the Goddess Statue's head.
