Bomb Bags are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2] [note 1]

Location and Uses

Bomb Bags are satchels in which Link can carry Bombs. The first Bomb Bag Link obtains is often a Dungeon Item, or an overworld Item that gives Link access to Bombs and allows him to continue his quest. When Bomb Bags are obtained in this manner, they usually come with Bombs. In some cases, the Bombs themselves are treated as Link's essential inventory item, and sometimes it's the Bomb Bag. For example, in the case of Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, the Bombs are collected early on, but the existence of a bag to carry them in isn't alluded to until Link gets a Bomb Bag upgrade.[4][5] In Skyward Sword, however, there are no traditional Bombs at all. When Link obtains the Bomb Bag, the icon of the bag goes into his inventory, and using the bag allows Link to store Bomb Flowers and use them at will, giving Link the same abilities as Bombs in all other games.

Upgrades to the Bomb Bag are quite commonplace across Link's adventures. Such upgrades increase the number of Bombs Link can carry at a time.[6][7] Most of the time these upgrades can be obtained in any order, with subsequent upgrades unlocking larger and larger Bomb Bags. In Twilight Princess, instead of Lua error in Module:Term at line 116: page parameter cannot be empty. upgrading his Bomb Bag to be larger and larger, he instead collects multiple Bomb Bags in his inventory. Each Bomb Bag can only hold one type of Bomb at a time, so collecting extra bags gives Link not just extra carrying capacity, but the ability to hold more varieties of explosives as well. In Skyward Sword, Bomb Bags are in unlimited quantity. Once Link completes the Earth Temple, he may purchase as many Bomb Bags as he can carry, though only the Bomb bag he carries in his Adventure Pouch contribute to his bomb carrying capacity.

In earlier games, such as A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening, access to Bombs is not tied to progression, and Bombs are available to be found or purchased in Shops from the beginning of the game. However, Link's Bomb capacity can still be increased by the blessings of other characters, such as Venus and the Mad Batter.[8]
