A Face Lamp is a trap that appears in many dungeons of Link's Awakening and other games. They are torches that launch fireballs are intruders, similar to Stone Statues. They are named for the faces on the lamps that appear in Link's Awakening, but in other games they appear simply as regular torches. Their behavior is unusual in that unlike Stone Statues, they will not usually start firing fireballs at intruders immediately. Instead, they usually react to enemies appearing, or in some cases, being defeated. Usually the only means to stop the onslaught of fireballs is to defeat the enemies in the room, but sometimes Link will be forced to simply flee.

Blazing Watch Towers,(FS)[1] also known as Face Lamps,(LA)[2] are recurring traps in The Legend of Zelda series.[name references needed] Blazing Watch Towers go unnamed in The Minish Cap.

Characteristics

Blazing Watch Towers are Torches that launch fireballs at intruders, similar to Stone Statues. Unlike Stone Statues, they will not start firing fireballs at intruders immediately. Instead, they react to enemies appearing, or in some cases, being defeated. The only means to stop the fireballs is to defeat the enemies in the room.

Nomenclature

Face Lamps are named for the faces on the lamps that appear in Link's Awakening, though in other games they appear simply as regular torches.
