Added Effects are a recurring mechanic The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Overview
Added Effects are a type of buff that Link can acquire by consuming Meals and Elixirs, or by equipping various pieces of Armor. They can buff Link in a variety of ways, from increasing his movement speed, to augmenting his combat prowess. Most Added Effects obtained through Meals or Elixirs will have a limited duration, determined by the Ingredients of the dish, while Added Effects obtained via Armor will be available for as long as the Armor piece is equipped. Some Added Effects can have different levels of potency, increasing their effectiveness. Certain Added Effects can stack up to three total levels of potency, while others cap at one or two levels.
When active, most Added Effects will be shown in the Inventory to the left of Link's model. The current active level of potency, the max possible level, and the Added Effect's name and icon will all be displayed. Outside of the Inventory, active Meal or Elixir buffs will be shown below Link's Life Gauge. Some Added Effects are not shown directly in the Inventory, and may or may not be briefly described by an Item's description.
Link can only have one type of duration-based Added Effect from Meals or Elixirs active at a time. However, Added Effects can stack between Meals or Elixirs and Armor. This means that Link can have four different active buffs shown in the Inventory at a time, or if he has two pieces of Attack Up Armor equipped, he can consume a Meal or Elixir that grants a level one Attack Up effect for a total of three levels.
In the Recovered Memory "Silent Princess", Zelda finds a Hot-Footed Frog and tells Link about its special properties,[3][4] referencing the Speed Up Added Effect that an Elixir made with a Hot-Footed Frog can provide.
In Tears of the Kingdom's Side Quest "Gloom-Borne Illness", Lasli's grandmother Nanna has fallen ill from Gloom sickness. If Link speaks to Lasli, she'll explain to him that she's been trying to cook a Porridge to help cure the effects of the Gloom, but that she can't find an Ingredient that works. If Link cooks a Sunny Veggie Porridge and speaks to Lasli, he can give to her so that she can use its Gloom Recovery Added Effect to cure her grandmother.
Set Bonuses
Set Bonuses are a rarer type of Added Effect obtained exclusively through certain Armor Sets.

File:TotK Attack Up Icon.png Attack Up | AttackUp | Increases Link's attack power by 20%, 30% and 50% for levels one, two and three respectively. Applies twice multiplicatively for thrown weapons. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Climb Speed Up Icon.png Climb Speed Up | ClimbSpeedUp | Increases Link's climbing speed by 20%, 30%, and 40% for levels one, two, and three respectively. Stamina drain is increased to match, meaning the effect does not increase the total distance that can be climbed. Stacks multiplicatively with Sideways Climbing Speed Up. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Cold Resistance Icon.png Cold Resistance | ResistCold | Prevents Link from taking damage due to Freezing Climates. Some environments require a higher effect level. Does not affect damage taken from Ice-based attacks or freezing water. Caps at level two.
File:TotK Cold Weather Attack Icon.png Cold Weather Attack | AttackUpCold | When in Freezing Climates, Link's charge attacks and combo finishers will generate an ice-based AoE. In addition to the damage the enemy will receive by default from the element, the AoE has a bonus attack power of 5, which can be increased by the Attack Up effect. Level two increases the size of the AoE by 50% for combo finishers and 33% for charge attacks. Level three increases the size of the AoE by 100% for combo finishers and 66% for charge attacks. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Defense Up Icon.png Defense Up | DefenseUp | Increases Link's defense by 4, 12, and 24 for levels one, two, and three respectively. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Energy Up Icon.png Energy Up | DecreaseZonauEnergy | Decreases Energy Cell consumption rate of Zonai Devices by 20%, 35%, and 50% for levels one, two, and three respectively. Does not affect the energy consumption rate of Batteries or Big Batteries. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Extra Hearts Icon.png Extra Hearts | LifeMaxUp | Fully restores Link's health and provides him with extra yellow Hearts that absorb damage. These Hearts cannot be restored once used, but they can be replaced by reapplying the Added Effect. The total amount of Hearts in Link's Life Gauge cannot exceed 40. If Link receives Gloom damage, any extra Hearts he has will all be consumed at once, after which his Heart Containers will be damaged as normal.
File:TotK Extra Stamina Icon.png Extra Stamina | ExStaminaMaxUp | Fully restores Link's Stamina and provides him with extra yellow rings of Stamina, to be consumed after his green Stamina rings run out. This extra Stamina is consumed on use, but can be restored by reapplying the Added Effect. Link can have up to two rings of extra Stamina.
File:TotK Flame Guard Icon.png Flame Guard | ResistBurn | Prevents Link from taking damage due to Scorching Climates. Some environments require a higher effect level. Does not affect damage taken from Extremely Hot Zones, Fire, fire-based attacks, or Lava. Caps at level two.
File:TotK Gloom Recovery Icon.png Gloom Recovery | LifeRepair | Restores Hearts that have been damaged by Gloom.
File:TotK Gloom Resistance Icon.png Gloom Resistance | MiasmaGuard | Provides Link with teal fake Hearts that take Gloom damage before the Heart Containers in his Life Gauge do. These fake Hearts automatically heal over time when Link is safe from Gloom, even in the Depths. They only protect Link from the Gloom found in the environment, or from Gloom damage dealt by Gloom Spawn, not from enemy attacks that deal Gloom damage on hit. When the effect is applied or when loading a save with the effect active, the fake Hearts start out damaged before healing as normal. Caps at level three.
LightEmission | Causes Link to emit Light, illuminating environments shrouded by darkness. The effect's intensity and radius increase at higher levels. The Light has no effect on enemies or objects, nor can it restore Hearts that have been damaged by Gloom. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Heat Resistance Icon.png Heat Resistance | ResistHot | Prevents Link from taking damage due to Extremely Hot Zones. Some environments require a higher effect level. Does not affect damage taken from Scorching Climates, Fire, fire-based attacks, or Lava. Caps at level two.

File:TotK Lightning Proof Icon.png Lightning Proof | ResitLightning | Prevents Link from taking any damage from electricity or lightning strikes, as well as preventing any negative effects from either, such as being knocked back or disarmed.
File:TotK Rupee Padding Icon.png Rupee Padding | RupeeGuardRate | Uses Rupees to shield Link from damage. After subtracting Link's current defense stat from the enemy attack's damage, this effect negates up to 12 damage points (3 Hearts) per effect level. Each damage point negated costs 10 Rupees. Does not protect against Gloom damage from either the environment or enemy attacks. Caps at level three.
File:TotK Sand Speed Up Icon.png Sand Speed Up | SandMoveUp | Removes the 20% movement penalty for moving on sand. INCOMPLETE QUICKSAND?
File:TotK Shock Resistance Icon.png Shock Resistance | ResistElectric | Reduces the damage Link takes from electricity by 33%, 66%, and 100% for levels one, two, and three respectively. Does not affect the explosion damage from lightning strikes. Caps at level three.
