Gomess is almost completely immune to harm with the sword while the Bad Bats cover its body; only a very lucky hit will penetrate. To disperse the cloud, Bombs and Light Arrows are very effective. When the Bad Bats are scattered, Link can attack Gomess with any weapon of choice, so long as it hits Gomess' weak spot: the green orb under its cloak. The young hero must repeat this pattern until Gomess is defeated.

Since every undead creature in Ikana was once alive before the doors of Stone Tower Temple were opened, and Gomess appears to be a ghost of some sort, it is possible that Gomess was once a normal living being as well. It may have been an enemy of the Ikana royal family, like the Garo, and may have shared a direct connection with them, as both Gomess and the Garo Master serve as mini-bosses of Stone Tower. Its scythe has a decapitated skull on it as well, which may have belonged to an Ikana Soldier; if so, this would again indicate its enmity toward Ikana's royal family.

Template:Boss Gomess is one of the many evils of the Stone Tower Temple in Majora's Mask. It guards the Boss Key that Link needs to gain access to Twinmold's lair, and does not surrender it easily. It is a master with the scythe that it wields.

Strategy

Gomess is almost completely immune to harm with the sword while the Bad Bats cover its body; only a very lucky hit will penetrate. To disperse the cloud, Bombs and Light Arrows are very effective. When the Bad Bats are scattered, Link can attack Gomess with any weapon of choice, so long as it hits Gomess' weak spot: the green orb under its cloak. The young hero must repeat this pattern until Gomess is defeated.

Trivia

 • Gomess shares its French name with Death Sword, Faucheur, which means "harvester", alluding to the Grim Reaper.
