The Shae Katha Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Shae Katha's Blessing,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

Shae Katha Shrine is located behind the Spring of Courage in the Faron Grasslands. However, the door leading to the Ancient Shrine is originally closed. Kass can be found in the Pagos Woods, where he will ask if Link wants to hear an "Ancient Song" passed down in the area.[2] His song hints that a Shrine is at the Spring, which is inside ruins shaped like a Dragon.[3] Listening to the song will begin "The Serpent's Jaws" Shrine Quest.

At the Spring of Courage, Link can pray to the Spring of Courage Statue, which will ask him to offer one of Farosh's Scales to the Spring.[4] Farosh will drop one of its Scales if Link manages to strike its body. When one of Farosh's Scales is dropped into the Spring of Courage, a wall behind the Goddess Statue will open, revealing the Ancient Shrine and completing the Shrine Quest.[5]

As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Shae Katha, who states that merely being able to enter the Shrine is proof of Link's worth.[6]

Themes and Navigation

Shae Katha Shrine features no puzzles, simply a direct path to the Monk's Pedestal bearing Shae Katha. Along this path is a stone Treasure Chest containing a Thunderspear. When Link approaches Shae Katha, the Monk will give him a Spirit Orb for reaching the Shrine.[7] Afterwards, Shae Katha will wish him well before fading away.[8]
