The Deepwood Shrine is the first Dungeon within The Minish Cap.[1]
Features and Overview
According to King Daltus, the Deepwood Shrine was once used by both Humans and Minish as a meeting place.[2] He sends Link there to start his search for the Minish who can reforge the Broken Picori Blade. However, after Vaati opens the Bound Chest, the Shrine becomes infested with Monsters and shows no signs of Minish life.
When Link visits the Minish Woods, he finds the Minish Village directly south of the Shrine. Here, the Forest Picori Elder, Gentari tells Link to seek out the Four Elements, one of which is hidden in the Shrine. The Elder gives Link permission to enter the Shrine, guarded by the village priest, Festari.
The Deepwood Shrine is a Minish-sized Dungeon that shows many signs of being long abandoned, due to the large amount of cobwebs lining the walls. The main room in the Dungeon houses a large Barrel mounted horizontally on a pole. Link must first remove obstructions at the ends of the pole and then run inside the Barrel to rotate holes into position allowing access to the other parts of the Dungeon. Most of the puzzles in the Shrine involve pushing Jars or Statues onto Floor Switches or using the Gust Jar to open passageways. The bottom floor is flooded with water and Link must use a Lily to navigate, using the Gust Jar as the motor.
