The Voo Lota Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name The Winding Route,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Voo Lota Shrine is located in the Tabantha Frontier in Warbler's Nest west of Rito Village. To reveal the shrine, Link must complete the Shrine Quest; Recital at Warbler's Nest. During which, Link is asked by Kheel to find her four sisters to participate in a singing rehearsal. Once all five sisters are at Warbler's Nest, they will sing. If Link uses a Korok Leaf to blow through holes in rocks nearby, in correlation to the sisters song, the Voo Lota Shrine will appear.[2]

Themes and Navigation

When Link enters the Voo Lota Shrine, he is greeted by Voo Lota, the Monk of the shrine.[3] In front of Link, a ladder extends high into the air. Atop the ladder, a short tunnel leads to a Switch. If Link walks close to the switch, a gate will close behind him. Hitting the switch will open the floor from underneath him and plunge Link towards lava. Link is able to escape by Paragliding into a fan, which will blow Link to a platform and a locked gate which conceals Voo Lota. To open the portcullis, Link must jump west of the Monk and paraglide to another platform, stopping before he hits a wall of spikes. Link must then walk to the end of the path, where a fan can blow Link upward to another platform. Link must again jump and glide over and then under more spikes and land on another platform. On this platform, a chest containing a Small Key sits next to a wall of spikes. Link must then make his way back to the original platform and unlock the gate to complete the shrine. Upon doing this, Link will receive a Spirit Orb.[4]

On the last platform before gliding back and unlocking the door, a chest can be found on a separate platform near containing a Flameblade. If Link goes for this chest, he will be able to make his way back to the main path via a few fans.
